Bertrand Gruyer (born 1961, France) is a French photographer. He grew up in an environment closely linked to the art world, particularly abstraction, which left a lasting mark on his visual sensibility. After being admitted to the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in the early 1980s, he worked in advertising as a creative and copywriter, all the while maintaining a constant connection to imagery. The advent of digital photography at the turn of the millennium marked a decisive turning point. It enabled him to develop a practice centered on accidental forms within the urban environment, which he isolates through framing to reveal their latent pictorial quality. Attentive to ordinary details and unintentional phenomena, his work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions and acquired by collectors and professionals in the fields of photography and visual culture. Since 2021, he has devoted himself entirely to his photographic practice. He lives and works between Paris and the French countryside.
